On Monday, May 5th, Google continued it’s plan to takeover the world. The tech company that provides everything from operating systems to wearable computers (Google Glass) has officially launched a same day delivery option for shopping. Sound familiar? Recently Amazon announced that they will be offering same day and even Sunday delivery!
To compete with Amazon, Google is offering free same day delivery for the six months and $10 off your first order. Google has teamed up with various stores to offer the service – meaning you can shop at Target, Walgreens, Staples, Costco and more.
This service is currently only available in a one area – Manhattan – but plans are already in the works to expand to Queens and Brooklyn in the coming months. It was so popular on Monday that by noon, Google had to stop offering same day delivery. Customers are normally supposed to have until 4:30 PM to order and receive delivery the same day.
What do you think of this “war” that Google has started with Amazon? Should Google stick more with technology, or should they compete in any market they feel they can? Will this be the next Google+?
